Chicken Soup for the Cat & Dog Lover's Soul

This book is a Christmas gift from a good friend of mine. This is such a great book - I'll reccommend to anyone who loves animals. Most of the stories are so tearjerking.

There is this true story about Greyfriars Bobby, a Skye terrier who lived on a farm in the hills outside of Edinburgh, Scotland. It tells a story of undying love and unwavering loyalty. Auld Jock, an old shepherd and Bobby became inseparable friends after meeting at the farm. After a few years, Jock was forced into retirement because of his tuberculosis but he could not bring Bobby along. Bobby escaped from the farm to look for his beloved friend! When Jock died from his illness and was buried in Greyfriars Cemetery, Bobby decided he will keep vigil and guard Jock's grave. He filled his stomach by visiting the inn where Jock and he used to frequent at one o' clock everyday. The innkeeper would feed him as he recognised Bobby as Jock's dog. Then it was back to the lonely grave for Bobby. Bobby kept vigil for his master for 14 long years until he died of old age. He was buried next to Jock. A headstone was erected to pay tribute to this faithful little dog.

Greyfriars Bobby.
Died 14th Jan 1872.
Aged 16 years.
Let his loyalty and devotion
be a lesson to us all.
