Auld Lang Syne

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

And surely you will have your pint!
And surely I'll have mine!
And we'll take a cup of kindess yet,
For auld lang syne!

We two have run about the hills
And pulled the daisies fine,
But we've wandered many a weary foot
Since auld lang syne.

We two have waded in the stream
From morning sun till dine,
But seas between us broad have roared
Since auld lang syne.

And there's a hand, my trusty friend!
And give a hand of thine!
And we'll take a right large goodwill draught,
For auld lang syne.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

PS: Dear Cotton, you'll be greatly and sorely missed by me, uncle, auntie and those who have loved you.

Temperaments of Maltese & JRT

The MALTESE is spirited, lively and playful. Gentle, loving, trusting and devoted to its master. Highly intelligent. Good at learning tricks if he feels sufficiently rewarded. Bold and quick to sound the alarm in case of suspicious noises. It is a classical companion dog; graceful and lovable. They do well with other animals. Maltese love to play outdoors but have a penchant for jumping in puddles. A bath must follow! These dogs can be snappish with inconsiderate children and may be difficult to housebreak. Sometimes they are picky eaters. Include small biscuits and dry dog food in this breed's regular diet to help the teeth stay strong and healthy. Do not over-pamper or overprotect these little dogs, for some become unstable, and some may become jealous of visitors.

The JACK RUSSELL TERRIER is a perky, merry, devoted, and loving dog. Spirited and obedient, yet absolutely fearless. Careful and amusing, he enjoys games and playing with toys. Friendly and generally kind to children who have been taught not to tease or strike the dog. They are intelligent, yet willful and determined. They can be slightly difficult to train and need a firm, experienced trainer. The Jack Russell can be aggressive with other dogs if not well trained and socialized. Some have killed or been killed in dog fights. Early socialization can help substantially moderate this trait. They have strong hunting instincts (stronger than your average terrier) and should not be trusted with other small animals. They like to chase and explore. Be careful not to let them off the lead unless they are very well-trained. Jack Russells like to bark and dig. They tend to get restless and destructive if not kept fruitfully occupied and well exercised. Jack Russells climb, which means they can climb over a fence, they also jump. A Jack that stands 12 inches high can easily jump five feet. JRTs are not the breed for a inexperienced dog owner. This is a BIG dog in a little dogs body. The owner needs to be as strong-willed as they are, or this little guy will take over. With the right owner this little dog can really excel, but is not recommended for those who have not had prior experience with terriers

"Little Piglet"

I had Cookie weighed this evening - she is at a cool 2.5kg! She was only 900gm when I adopted her (this was in Oct 05). Within 2 months, she put on 1.6kg! Incredible! Now you know how her nickname "little piglet" came about. Ha!

Maomao

Maomao seems to be adjusting well to the collar. What a relief!

Two men, one cat, some cat food and a cage

I saw uncle again this morning. First thing he asked, "Any news of the white cat?". Heartbreaking.

I told him I have no luck - the town council and the authority told me they do not have her. He was visibly upset. Sigh.

"They fed her some food before putting her in a cage" he told me. "Two indian guys" he gestured with his two fingers.

I am intrigued. Where are the two guys from?!

Pixie vs Pixie II

Are they or are they not the same?

In memory of Cotton

More than a month has passed since Cotton disappeared. I still cannot accept the fact that she is gone permanently - I don't think I will ever get over it. Losing her this way is so much harder than knowing that she has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Though hope is frail, I still pray for miracle. Wherever she is, I'm sure she can sense how much I miss her.

These are her usual hangouts:

Collaring Maomao

Meet Maomao, the sterilised resident cat at Blk 897A. I decided since Cotton's kidnap to collar Maomao for fear she may meet the same fate. Tonight, I finally bought a cat collar that has features such as safety buckle which will break away to free Maomao in times of danger and reflective for night visibility. I had zero difficulty collaring her but think she felt a little weird. I hanged around for a while and headed home when I lost sight of her. With this collar, I hope it gives some sign that she belonged to somebody. I hope to see how she is doing tomorrow.

Patches

I met Patches on 23 Dec at Horizon Green during my company's christmas party. Very obedient 1 year 1 month old male JRT. Photographed together is Patches' very lovely young owner (I forgot her name). Too bad Cookie wasn't there!

Pixie II

Pixie II was my post christmas find - so named because she reminds me very much of Pixie the young kitten I last saw in early August. There are two possibilities as to why she has been collared. She could either be somebody's pet or she is under the care of a caregiver around my estate. She was meowing away when I saw her down at my block. I approached her slowly with the dry cat food on my palm outstretched but clearly, she's very wary of human. She darted away immediately but kept me in view. I decided to leave the food at a corner, walked away and stood by a corner to observe. She ate the food! I was heartened. I tried approaching but she darted away each time but always return to the food. It must have been my perseverance that she finally understood I was not going to harm her. She eventually allowed me to touch her. I had her collar adjusted to give more room just in case I don't get to see her again. I have this very strong hunch that Pixie II is actually Pixie. She should be about this size now. Besides, her markings are similar to Pixie's. Somebody must have adopted her - that explains the disappearance and her collar! But why is she loitering at the void deck tonight?

A kitten named Tootsie

I recently started feeding this kitten I named Tootsie. She resides at Blk 823. I bumped into her by chance after ending my supermarketing nearby one evening. She was a pitiful sight - small and lost. I had to feed her of course! She purred in contentment as she gobbled her food. I went home that night feeling great, knowing Tootsie will be sleeping with a full stomach, not an empty one. I decided since I will check on her if I have the chance. I saw her just last night again. Seemed to have grown a little. Hmm.

Cotton was "kidnapped"!

I heard from this uncle who stay next block to mine Cotton was taken away by two indian men on 17 Nov. Well, this uncle is one of those at Blk 897 who loves Cotton like I do. Understand that though uncle pleaded with them not to take her away, they still did. Uncle is not very mobile and cannot speak clearly as he suffered previously from a stroke and is now recuperating. Hence, he had no means to retaliate. According to uncle, they came in a van and were from the "authorities". This is infuriating news to me! To think that Cotton was "kidnapped" right under uncle's nose?! Duh. I have to find out what happened.

Have you seen Cotton?

COTTON was last seen on Nov 16 morning loitering at Blk 897 Tampines Street 81 void deck. Very sweet and good-natured stray cat I've been taking care of since 1 Jul 05 after her sterilization. Recently went missing mysteriously and have not seen her until now. Very worried about her safety and well-being. Anyone with any news on her, please kindly contact me at 97670958. Thanks!
